Dr. Lisa Aweida-Ross

Dr. Aweida-Ross is a clinical psychologist and a PsyPact member. This is a governing organization that allows psychologist members to practice telepsychology in member states. A map of states that have enacted this legislation can be found at PsyPact Map/States. This means she could meet with you if you live in Colorado or in a member state.

Dr. Aweida-Ross believes the foundation of psychotherapy is the relationship between the therapist and the patient. Her work is grounded in attachment theory, which explains how our connections to others are influenced by our early relationships and experiences. The process of psychotherapy can help us heal wounds and ruptures, aiding us in developing earned secure attachment.

She is also trained in methods of psychotherapy that highlight the wisdom of our bodies. Our bodies are our first homes, they contain infinite wisdom that many of us have become disconnected from. We often look to our intellectual mind and our thoughts first when we consider making changes. However, much of our emotional pain is held in our body and connected to our emotional brain, that is not easily accessed by our thinking mind. Dr. Aweida-Ross has been trained in methods that help us gain access to deep emotional healing in the body. These include: Clinical Brainspotting, parts work and Sensory Motor Psychotherapy.

Over the decades, Dr. Aweida-Ross has worked with children, adolescents and adults in individual, couples and family therapy. She is trained in family systems theory and emotionally focused couples therapy. Both methods dive deep into the complex dynamics that relationships and families spark. Currently, however, she is is focusing on the treatment of individual adults.

Dr. Aweida-Ross has earned a Masters Degree in Counseling Psychology (1989) and a Doctoral Degree in Clinical Psychology (1996), with a minor in Child and Family Psychology. She has worked in inpatient hospitals, day treatment centers and out-patient settings over the years. She has been in private practice since 2000.

Dr. Aweida-Ross is also passionate about meditation. She is a trained meditation instructor through Naropa University and Shambhala. She periodically teaches meditation classes
